I will omit I would love to take home one of theses Redbox kiosk as I already have a back room server from a closed down RadioShack although the server was wiped clean of everything, not even a speck of information or trace of RadioShack other than an a few DVDs that say RadioShack POS (Point of sale) was attached to the sever. It makes me wonder what they used the server for. I highly doubt that an employee an IT person would come around to various RadioShacks that are set to permanently close and remove everything. It makes me wonder if they used this just to print and do Remote Desktop connection to a server at their hq office (headquarter office)?
A very close friend of mine was hired by a local RadioShack to clear out everything and restore the store back to the way they it looked before they built out the space. The RadioShack said everything in the store needs to be removed and anything you want you can have it, the friend of mine gave me a few things from the store and one of them was a sever that was in there back room. Today I still use the server and a few things from the RadioShack.
So what about Redbox and their kiosks that you find at Walmarts, CVS pharmacy, 7-11’s, dollar stores, and so on did they abandoned them or is stores that allowed Redbox to place theses kiosks still owned by Redbox Automated Retail, LLC could tell theses store we want them back as Redbox Automated Retail, LLC may need to sell them to get as much money in order to pay back their creditors?
What happens if you ask your local store if you could take the kiosk and they say yes could you be putting the store that you got the kiosk from in some legal trouble as they do not own the kiosk but technically Redbox Automated Retail, LLC still does even though they are currently not conducting any business as they are currently going through bankruptcy court?
What happens when a company files for chapter 7 or 11 bankruptcy?
Kmart, that was a department store and operated stores in all 50 states filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, which basically means that they still need to pay their creditors back however they’re basically restructuring their business/Company and they need to create a business plan on how they are going to pay back their creditors.
The plan could include things like closing under performing stores, modify store hours were some stores are not busy at night so there’s no point of being open 24 seven and having to pay employees for a night shift, reducing some services or completely suspending them at some or all stores, asking some creditors where they do not owe as much debt if they can delay paying back until let’s say a year later, so in the meantime they can work toward paying off the creditor that they owe the most debt too, etc.
What about an individual, can they file for chapter 7 or 11 bankruptcy? Individuals not a corporation like Kmart can either file chapter 7 or chapter 13 bankruptcy, chapter 13 bankruptcy is similar to chapter 11 bankruptcy. The only difference is really one is for a business while the other is for an actual individual.)
Redbox filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy which this type of bankruptcy is different from chapter 11 bankruptcy where the company can restructure, create a business plan in order to pay back its creditors, continue to operate, chapter 7 bankruptcy on the other hand means that the business or company can no longer be an operation and they must sell their assets to repay their creditors.
