I’m sure all of us at some point has seen a Redbox kiosk or perhaps even used it so I think seeing this screen is no surprise or any secret but we’re going beyond the the screen that we’ve all are very familiar seeing.
before we just die right in let’s see what a kiosk is and what’s the purpose? is a kiosk, the same as a vending machine?
A kiosk is a self-help tool to help customers check-in, purchase tickets, pay for merchandise, place an order, etc without the needing of an actual human to really interact thus making a few things that helps customers and the business.
For example, if you look at Lowe’s home improvement, perhaps maybe your local store has done away with the registers that all of us are so familiar with and now they have been replaced with about eight check out kiosk so instead I’ve usually having two lanes open at a time they can now have eight lanes open, which means less time customers have to wait in line, and the store doesn’t have to have multiple people in one position now they can move those other associates to other parts of the store.
several other retailers, like Walmart, grocery stores and even fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s has introduced self-help kiosk.
Redbox on the other hand is well kind of entirely different, normally when we think of a kiosk, we think of a kiosk being inside of a store and if you need assistance you could always ask a store employee however with Redbox, that’s a little different the Redbox kiosk is basically the store and most of the time everything works smoothly. Redbox kiosk are more like blockbuster stores that if you grew up in the 90s and maybe 80’s you would remember visiting the stores to rent a VHS tape then later on they decided to do away with VHS tapes and go for DVDs.
Sadly today blockbuster is no more and Redbox had the same fate as well, but who knows maybe some day they will come back.
