You probably have seen articles and YouTube videos claiming that if you connect an older computer like Windows XP to the internet, the computer will be infected with malware, viruses, spyware and be easily hacked, but they leave out some important information.
You first have to visit questionable website site(s) or download from questionable website(s) to put your computer at risk. While using an older computer like Windows XP can put you at a much greater risk of being hacked really any computer can be hacked as their are always a hacker is finding a security vulnerability that needs to be packed.
saying if you connect your Windows XP computer to the internet in 2025 within seconds or minutes your computer will be effected by viruses, spyware, malware, etc but that is leaving out a very important detail that you have to visit a website or download something that may contain viruses, spyware, malware, etc.
so impart the claim that these articles and YouTube videos are making is not necessarily true, simply connecting a computer to the Internet and doing absolutely nothing will remain free of viruses, spyware, malware, etc, however, if you choose to download something from websites that are not reputable like Microsoft, Dell, Amazon just to name a few than you do have a very high risk of downloading a viruses, spyware, malware, etc.
You might be asking. Why would someone even want to bother connecting a computer running Windows XP?
Just because the computer is no longer supported by Microsoft. It does not mean that the computer stops working. While the older the machine is, the more likely you will not be able to install an updated browser, that allows or supports modern and stricter security standards that may limit your ability to access certain websites you can still use the machine for offline use such as these uses:
