Trump’s tariffs are hitting low-income communities and individuals on fixed incomes the hardest. Trump needs to end the tariffs!

/ March 20, 2026

I noticed my coffee pot is on its last legs, so before it completely stops working, I went on Amazon to buy the same model I purchased in 2023. Back then, it cost $61. Now, the exact same item is listed at $149, but it’s “on sale” for $139 — a 7% discount. That’s a 128% increase in price since last year. Interestingly, that 128% hike is about the same as the current tariff rate.

Sure, it’s just a coffee pot — but if one everyday item has more than doubled in price, what else is next? What other products have already gone up in cost? As Trump pushes for a trade war, it’s the American people who will bear the financial burden.

Walmart’s CFO John David Rainey recently stated that the company is expecting to raise prices due to increased supply chain and tariff costs. [Source: CNBC, May 2024]. As one of the largest retailers in the U.S., Walmart often serves low-income communities and individuals on fixed incomes. That means millions of Americans will soon be paying more at the register for everyday essentials.
