How to set up R7 Solar router?

/ March 20, 2026

If you’re interested in putting a router on the outside of your home to hopefully extend your Wi-Fi network, then you may want to consider purchasing this. The owners manual/installation guide has Some brother, small pictures and the text isn’t all that big for the more it lacks in some details that I think should be mentioned.

Carefully unpack the router from the box and Inspect to make sure that there is no damage. Make sure you have the proper hardware as well.

1 x R7 Solar router
1 x Mounting bracket
2 x anchor brackets (plastic)
2 x anchor screws
2 x mounting screws that attach to the backside of the R7 solar router
1 x owner Mandel/quick guide

Inside the little cover:

When you unpack the router and take it out of the box for the first time you will notice at the bottom there is a little rubber piece that coves a USB port, switch and the reset button.

Power switch: To turn the router on, move the switch to the right side, to turn the router off turn it to the left side.

Factory reset button: if you need to do a factory, reset you’ll need to get a pen or a pencil, but not with a sharp tip and press the reset button for 12 seconds and then release, the router will now be reset back to default settings.

USB Port: You will notice that there is a USB port, not really used.

Setup:

When you take the router out of the box for the first time, and you open the little cover and you turn the switch on, it may not immediately work, instead what you may need to do is charge it to at least 17%. You want to put the solar router into direct sunlight for at least two hours and this will give it time to charge where it will be at least 17% charged.

In about two hours it will be charged to 17%, if you check your available Wi-Fi networks the default Wi-Fi network is “Solar-Repeater-6544”, tap on connect or join.

Once you have joined the network if you’re using an iPad or an iPhone, you can tap on the i circle to view information about the network scroll down and tell you see router IP, it will be something like 192.168.16.1

When you take your router out of the box for the first time it should begin to start charging if not, you may need to plug-in a USB cable to start the charging process for at least 20 minutes, once this has been completed put the router out in the sun for at least two hours or more. Make sure the switch is ON. The switch will move from right to left, moving to switch to the right is turning the router on and turning the switch to the left side is turning it off.
