Facebook and Xfinity down

/ March 20, 2026

If yesterday had been National Social Media Down Day, the major platforms might have seemed to be observing the occasion. Several users reported outages affecting Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Bluesky. However, 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) did not appear to experience similar issues, and there were no widespread reports indicating that the platform was down.

While some users claimed that all of the major platforms were inaccessible, my own attempts to access them produced mixed results. Of the platforms mentioned, Facebook was the only one I consistently found to be unavailable. Reports suggest that Facebook’s outage affected users more broadly.

When attempting to access Facebook while signed into an account, users were automatically redirected to: https://www.facebook.com/sorry.php?msg=account

They were then presented with the following message:

“Account Temporarily Unavailable.
Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.
”

This message indicated that the disruption was likely related to a temporary site issue rather than individual account problems.

A more local outage was also affecting people as Xfinity suffered a major outage affecting TV, Phone and Internet service
