Verified statuses for those who pay is a good idea and I fully support it but a few tweaks need to be implemented and they are…

  • Any accounts created within two years of Monday, November 7, 2022 should have not been eligible to sign up for Twitter Blue unless it can been seen that the account is not spamming and/or Impersonating or violating any other rules that are being violated as any accounts that are gauging in this type of practice would’ve been terminated.

How would this have prevented by stopping or at least reducing the amount of spam or impersonating accounts?

While I cannot say implementing this would have totally stopped, but it certainly would have slowed down the amount of spam and/or impersonating accounts probably dramatically. I honestly don’t believe within two years an account created two years ago that is engaging in this type of practice would have remain active as it would have been suspended.

Twitter blue launches on Monday, November 7, 2022 but delayed opening due to concerns over misinformation about the election spreading so the new opening date was pushed to Wednesday, November 9, 2022. While I do think it was a good idea for Twitter to delay the opening for Twitter Blue over concerns about misinformation spreading about the election I do think they should have implemented exclusions.

The exclusions should have been implemented are

  • Any account created on or after November 7, 2020 would need to undergo a manual verification to ensure the account is not impersonating, engaging in spamming or any other role violations.
  • Any account that has not been active within the past 100 days of Monday, November 7, 2022 would not be eligible.
  • Any account that has had any violation within two years of Monday, November 7, 2022 would not be eligible.

Unfortunately it was almost like a free-for-all with one exception that any accounts created on or after November 9 wouldn’t be eligible to sign up for Twitter blue however because people knew the original sign update they could’ve signed up a week before for the sole purpose of spamming, impersonating so to have implemented any accounts created on or after November 9 would’ve made absolutely no difference. Should Twitter blue return with giving people a verified status for those who pay eight dollars?

Absolutely! Twitter blue should return to allow people to receive a verified status for those who wish to pay with the exclusions that I have mentioned above.

Penalties, nobody likes them especially when it involves shelling out money.

I think anyone who has a verified status whether Twitter issued it to them or they purchased it regardless of how they obtained it they should be held to much higher standard and for

I think those people who receive a verified status that are caught violating any of the Twitter rules with the exception of impersonating, intentionally trying to scam, spreading lots misinformation, threatening no warning should be issued instead account suspension should be imposed however if it is not severe enough that would result in account termination if the person is found guilty of violating the rules if they wish to keep they are verified status they should have to pay a penalty or if they chose not to than they are booted from Twitter blue for two years and no refund is issued. each time they are in violation of violating the Twitter rules the penalty should double each time.
