What does NORAD and Sears how to do with each other?

/ March 20, 2026

Sears is an United States of America department store that sells indoor appliances such as but not limited to refrigerators, washer and dryer’s, dishwashers, also furniture beds, cabinets they also sell apparel clothing and outdoor equipment such as lawnmowers, riding lawnmowers, sheds, and even at one time sold houses as a kit.

According to several articles, they say that a Sears store in Colorado Springs ran an advertisement encouraging children to call this number however there was one issue with this advertisement the number that was printed in the paper was for Continental Air Defense Command, not calling Santa. The people at NORAD where good sports and told kids where Santa is. 60 years later that tradition that all started with a Sears ad still continues to to this day and I am sure it will continue for many more Christmases.

While today Sears and Kmart are both financially struggling by facing Chapter 11 bankruptcy and only hanging on by a thread, we should say thank you to Sears for making a fantastic holiday tradition along with the volunteers at NORAD who take calls from several children around the United States and probably around the world today.
