YouTube privacy check up

/ March 20, 2026

It’s a new year and that means you should be concerned about your privacy and it’s time that you do a little privacy check up just to make sure what you’re posting online is truly how do you want to represent yourself kind a like selling yourself.

Comments I’ve made:

if you recently made a comment or you made a comment last month to last year or even last decade ago your comment is public, but did you know that you can actually find a page that will show you all of the comments that you have made on YouTube including if you made any comments using your branded account.

log into YouTube > on the top left-hand corner you’ll see three lines that looks like a crosswalk, click on that > Now we see a menu, click on history > on the history page this will display all of the videos that you watched on YouTube if you are logged in so even if you choose to delete your history on your computer this will be available whenever you log into YouTube.

on this page is also very important because you’ll see two other links on the right hand side almost toward the bottom it will say comments and live.

Live chat: The live chat will display all of the comments that you made when a video originally aired. You can delete the comment however you cannot edit the comment.

Commets: Comments is when you made a comment on a YouTube video that either was live and you decide to make a comment after it concluded or if someone uploaded a YouTube video.

Comments is when you made a comment on a YouTube video that either was live and you decide to make a comment after it concluded or if someone uploaded a YouTube video.

if you made a comment using your branded account instead of your main YouTube account click on the very top right hand corner to reveal a drop-down menu then on the drop-down menu click on your name or the name that you wish to use and then it will display in a new window all of the comments or life comments you made

Privacy settings of videos

sometimes we want to upload videos to YouTube not necessarily to share them but for later use such as you witnessed somebody backing into your vehicle and you want to make sure that that video is going to be saved.

Public you can tell YouTube that whenever I upload a video by default it will be public, unlisted or private.

Unlisted: unlisted videos I need a public nor are they private however if you choose to give this URL out to someone they will be able to share it so even if somebody does not have a YouTube account they would be able to watch it.

private: it’s pretty much what it means, it means that the video that you uploaded is private and only you will be able to watch it and if you authorize up to 25 people per video to watch it.
