Each second the clock ticks without a deal as the deadline looms over the horizon will TikTok get another extension or will this means for content creators and their fans game over which means now they should seek alternatives, such as like YouTube, Facebook, or X and start announcing where fans will be able to find them?

/ September 1, 2025

The clock is ticking toward Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the deadline set under U.S. law for TikTok to be sold or divested from Chinese parent company ByteDance. If President Trump does not grant another 90-day extension, the app faces a nationwide ban.

At a press conference last month, Trump said potential U.S. buyers remain in discussions but provided no details. To date, no binding agreement has been publicly confirmed.

TikTok and other ByteDance platforms remain accessible in the United States. If the ban takes effect, the apps are expected to be removed from the Apple, Google, and Microsoft app stores, while related websites would be geo-restricted. Existing installations would remain on devices but would be unable to connect to servers.

The Trump administration has not identified a buyer, and it remains unclear whether an additional extension will be issued before the September deadline.
