Last week, the Trump administration revoked White House press credentials from several prominent media organizations, including CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), and Politico. President Trump defended the decision by stating that these outlets do not report the news fairly, accusing them of spreading “fake news” and “fiction” in their coverage of his administration.

On Tuesday, September 21, 2026, following the ban on CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), and Politico, President Trump launched ‘Trump TV,’ a channel live-streamed via the official White House YouTube channel that features live events as well as replays of previously aired programming.

However, the media ban faced immediate legal push-back. Following a lawsuit filed by the affected news organizations, a U.S. federal judge ordered the administration to temporarily restore press credentials for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, ruling that the ban likely violated constitutional due process. After a brief standoff and initial delays at the gates, reporters from the outlets regained entry to the White House complex.
